National Trench Safety, LLC (NTS), a Houston-based company specializing in the rental and sales of trench and traffic safety equipment, trench and traffic safety engineering, and OSHA-compliant training classes, announced the opening of a new branch operation in Washington D.C.

“Our new Washington D.C. area branch is a significant move for NTS, which will allow us to continue to strengthen our coverage and service footprint along the East Coast,” said Ron Chilton, president of NTS. “The Washington D.C. metropolitan area is one of the largest in the nation and is home to one of the most robust, construction markets in the United States. The area has an extensive amount of capital improvement projects planned over the next few years, which represent significant opportunities for NTS.”

The Washington D.C. operation, which will be located in northern Virginia, will be a full service trench and traffic safety location. Pat Hewitt, a long-time construction equipment rental and trench safety veteran will be spearheading the sales growth for the location.

“We’re very fortunate to have someone of Pat’s caliber and experience to establish NTS’ presence in this market,” said Chilton. “Pat has a very strong business relationship with many of the key contractors in the market, which will be a big plus for this new branch.”

Connie Hewitt also has joined NTS as the branch manager of this new operation. Hewitt has already begun building a strong operational team of experienced professionals to support growth in the market.

“Connie has a strong operational background that will be important as she begins to not only establish the branch in the market, but develop her team. She also understands the market along with the demands of the position and she is focused on the operational challenges to ensure our customers get the equipment they need, when they need it, on time, every time,” said Chilton.

The Washington D.C. branch is the 25th branch location for National Trench Safety in the United States. NTS now has operations in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Utah.

In maintaining its objective of building a nationwide network of trench and traffic safety branches, NTS plans to open at least one additional branch location in 2015 to continue the company’s expansion of its national footprint. For strategic reasons, Chilton declined to comment on the location of the additional new branches.
