New Holland Construction’s new model LB75 backhoe/loader offers the same design and one-piece steel mainframe as New Holland’s E-series backhoes, but is an entry-level model.
This backhoe will appeal to both individual owners and rental fleet owners. It’s priced in line with other competitive, entry-level machines, so it will be attractive to anyone who wants a new machine with the benefits of the E-series’ rugged reliability and fast cycle times.
The LB75 is comparable in size to the model 555E, with a few modifications.
The major difference is the engine, according to the company. The LB75 is powered by a New Holland/Iveco engine, delivering 56 kW (75 hp) as compared to the 60-kW (80 hp) engine in the 555E.
Refinements in the hydraulic system keep performance at peak levels. Steel tubing has been replaced with flexible hose in the hydraulics system and the hydraulic boom lock has been replaced with a mechanical lock. The loader valve has also been modified to help improve hydraulic performance.
The LB75 is available with 61-centimeter (24 in.) rear tires only, instead of the 71-centimeter (28 in.) tires which are standard on the 555E.
This gives the machine tremendous pushing performance for loader work without higher horsepower requirements, according to New Holland.
Like the E-series backhoes, the LB75 has a fast cycle time. It features a straight-arm loader with four-bar linkages and dual bucket cylinders, which combine to give it increased bucket rotation and breakout force.
An easy-to-use, single-level loader control makes it simple to dig, load and dump. There are four control options: two-lever, two-lever excavator style, three-lever with footswing and four-lever. Each offers matched cycle times for fluid backhoe cycling.
The LB75 is available with or without a cab, and with two-wheel and four-wheel drive options.
Options include the extendable Xtrav-vator II hydraulically-extended dipperstick, which provides an additional 1.2 meters (4 ft.) of reach, and a backhoe tool circuit with adjustable flow control and in-cab actuation to run a variety of attachments.
