GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) Building a new road between Rock Springs and Green River would cost at least $27 million — and that would only pay for a gravel road.
According to estimates, a paved road between the two cities in southwest Wyoming would cost at least $36 million.
The road is being considered because the gas boom has made Interstate 80 between Rock Springs and Green River the busiest highway in Wyoming.
Depending on the route taken, an engineering firm said the road could cost as much as $63 million. Estimates for proposed routes south of I-80 are more expensive than routes north of I-80 because the southern routes would involve the construction of several bridges.
