NUCA’s Anthony Marques Dies at 79

Anthony Marques, 79, of Bedminster Township, Bucks County, PA, died Jan. 12 in Doylestown Hospital.

He was the founder of Lisbon Contractors highway construction company in Bucks County, which he owned and operated from 1960 to 2000. He created and developed the Rock of Dighton eight-story hotel, restaurant and commercial building, Oliveira De Azmeis, Portugal.

Born in Oliveira De Azmeis, he was a son of the late Victorino and Diolinda (Marques) Marques.

He was a past president of the Eastern Pennsylvania Utility Contractors Association and a long-time member of the National Utility Contractors Association and a member of the Portuguese American Club.

Besides his wife, Joanne (Serratore) Marques, he leaves behind a son, Anthony J., of Maple Glen, Montgomery County, PA; two daughters, Janet Marques-Harding, of Warrington, PA, Marie, of Doylestown; a brother, Manuel in Braziland; and eight grandchildren.

A Mass was celebrated Saturday, Jan. 17 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Doylestown. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 17 at Shelly Funeral Home, Easton Road at Kellers Church Road, Plumsteadville, PA

Contributions may be made to Doylestown Hospital.
