It’s hard to imagine with the oppressive heat we’ve had for most of this summer that fall is just around the corner. But just as the leaves will turn color and float to the ground this October, the doors of the Verizon Center of Progress Building on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse also will open once again to the N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo.

This year’s show will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 100 exhibitors have already signed up for the 11th annual event, including Tracey Road Equipment, Milton CAT, Stephenson Equipment, Vantage Equipment, Tenco and Beck Equipment.

And of course, teams can again vie for plowing bragging rights by competing in the Snowplow Roadeo. Last year’s champion was the Village of Yorkville.

More than 30 exhibitors have already donated door prizes and during the expo, one will be given away every 15 minutes. And this year there will be two grand prizes: Two grandstand NASCAR tickets to the Watkins Glen race in August 2006, and two tickets for the Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots game on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
