October 2008

October 1, 2008 - National Edition

The 2008 N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo is upon us again. Geez, that was a fast year. This year’s show will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Americraft Center of Progress building on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

No, the venue hasn’t changed; just the sponsors of the building. (It used to be Verizon.)

On page 56 of this issue, please check out our comprehensive list of more than 120 exhibitors, who will be working hard to get your attention should you choose to attend.

As is the case every year, a steady stream of door prizes will be awarded to lucky guests throughout the day. Two very fortunate expo attendees will win two grand prizes, which include two Jim Kelly Level tickets for the Nov. 30 game between the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers at Ralph Wilson Stadium, and two tickets (plus pit passes) to the NASCAR race in Watkins Glen in August 2009.

Lunch will once again be free thanks to sponsors George & Swede/Hyundai, Beam Mack Sales & Service, Milton CAT, MMC Equipment, Atlantic Detroit & Diesel and Stadium International Trucks. And don’t forget about the annual Snowplow Roadeo competition. If you think your team has what it takes to be crowned champ, be sure to sign up at the front registration booth as soon as you arrive.

And here’s one final note about the show: Not only is the N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo an exceptional venue to learn about the latest in equipment and services, but it is also a great chance to nominate someone to be profiled in an upcoming issue of Superintendent’s Profile. The guy whose picture you see at the top of this page will be walking around all day taking pictures. If you see him, rather me, and you know someone who’s deserving of being profiled, let me know and we’ll get working on it.

Take care and hope to see you at the show. P
