Construction Equipment Guide

Perimeter Bobcat held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the company’s new Lake City, GA, branch on Friday, April 4.

Attendance at the ceremony included the Mayor of Lake City, Lake City councilmen, representatives of Bobcat, Perimeter Bobcat management and staff members, as well as others. Construction for this new facility has just begun at the new site, which fronts Forest Parkway in Lake City, and upon completion will replace the existing Conley, GA, branch.

Rainwater Construction will build the new structure, which will be situated on a 13.8-acre parcel of land. Design of this new 27,000- sq.- ft building is modeled to specifications that Bobcat wants for all future facilities and is scheduled for opening in September 2003. The facility will feature a 2,800-sq.- ft. showroom, 2,800 sq. ft. of parts storage, 15,000 sq. ft. of service space including 10 drive-through service bays. The drive and parking areas will be curbed and paved, and the grounds will undergo extensive landscape work.

To combat inclement weather, covered patio areas will be on the front and sides of the building for equipment exhibits, as well as roadside machinery displays. The plan is for a better atmosphere for customers and to give the look, feel, and comfort of a modern car dealership.

This new full-service (sales, service, parts, and rentals) branch also will support Ingersoll-Rand products that Perimeter currently has in its line-up. Perimeter Bobcat personnel say they anticipate that the growth opportunities at the new location will be tremendous.

The remaining 8 acres not used by the building, display areas, and parking lots will be developed into a regional training center and demo area. Bobcat will use these facilities for their “Bootcamps” and for sales, service, and parts training, as well as for customer operating training. Plans are to build a large classroom for ongoing regional Bobcat training.

Willie Oswalt, the Mayor of Lake City, spoke at the ceremony of his commitment to bring quality business to the area, and further stated that he is pleased to have Bobcat come to his city, and is extremely proud of the Perimeter organization. Regarding the topography studies submitted by Perimeter, Oswalt said, “The topo was approved with one letter, the first time that’s happened in 16 years in his city.”

In addition to its headquarters in Atlanta, Perimeter Bobcat has branch locations in Conley, Gainesville, and Marietta, GA.
