Perkins Engines has announced the appointment of North American Power Systems Inc. (NorAm), as one of its 10 North American Master Distributors. NorAm is headquartered in Oklahoma City and supports the sales, service and distribution of Perkins engines and parts through its approximately 100 dealers covering Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.

Perkins has seven Master Distributors in the United States and three in Canada. In all, the Master Distributors support the activities of more than 1,000 dealers in North America.

“Our presence in North America is spearheaded by our strategically-positioned Master Distributors,” said Mark Kingsley, industrial distribution manager. “Each one is a specialist engine house that offers comprehensive power packages for OEMs and end users.

“They also direct, through their stocked warehouses, the aftermarket support of Perkins’ parts and service dealers.

“The NorAm team is an excellent fit with our organization,” Kingsley said. “They are experienced in the engines business and with the markets in their region. We are very impressed with their entrepreneurial spirit.”

North American Power Systems Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warren Equipment Company, Midland, TX. It is headed by Vice President Jeffrey Somers, who formed NorAm in January 2001.

“We’re delighted to add Perkins to our product offering,” Somers said. “The Perkins horsepower range is an excellent fit with the requirements of the OEMs and end users that we serve in our region, in particular those in the oil and gas exploration business. And because we believe that product support is the key to our company’s long term success, we’re doubly pleased to be a part of Perkins because it is an organization designed for excellence in supplying parts and providing service — not just in North America but around the world. This is vitally important today because so many of our OEMs do business globally.”

In addition to oil and gas exploration, key diesel engine markets for NorAm include rough-terrain fork lifts, light towers, pump packages, generator sets and a wide variety of construction and industrial equipment.
