NEW ORLEANS (AP) The Port of New Orleans has sold 27 acres in surplus property, clearing the way for a $10 million private project.

France Road Parkway Properties will begin building a 150,000-sq.-ft. corporate office and warehouse for New Orleans-based Transportation Consultants Inc.

Port officials said the project will help the port in building the necessary logistical infrastructure to retain and attract new international trade. Construction is expected to be complete in June 2010.

Officials said the project will retain and create 150 jobs over the next three years.
