Construction Equipment Guide

The Global Asphalt Products Inc. Pro-Pav series all-wheel-drive (AWD) asphalt paver was introduced in 1999 and is a popular choice for the highway class market.

The 1110W AWD offers contractors a significant increase in tractive effort while maintaining higher road speeds and other desirable characteristics of a rubber-tired paver.

The operator can engage the AWD on the fly from the main console. When engaged, it provides up to 90 percent more tractive effort than a conventional two-wheel-drive machine and 34 percent more than a machine equipped with optional front wheel assist.

The Pro-Pav series AWD system is designed such that power is supplied to each of the four front bogie wheels independently. That means if one of the front wheels loses traction, the remaining three continue to drive with maximum torque.

The 1110W AWD also uses the Pro-Pav series portal axle drive system for enhanced performance. The portal axle provides true differential steering and the option of differential lock or modulated steer assist pedals for better handling.

The Pro-Pav series 1110W AWD has the lower maintenance costs and higher travel speed of a rubber tired paver and boasts maximum tractive effort on difficult jobs.

The 1110W AWD is available with four different screeds. The Pro-Pav series HS 1020 is the company’s flagship 3- to 6-meter (10 to 19.5 ft.) screed with rear mounted extensions and unique telescoping pre-strike offs. The HS 1020 has set a benchmark in the industry for rigidity, density and mat quality since its introduction in 1995. The HS 1020 is available with optional quick attach extensions for paving up to 8 meters (25.5 ft.) wide.

The Pro-Pav series HS 1017 provides paving widths from 3 to 5.2 meters (10 to 17 ft.) with rear mounted extensions and Pro-Pav’s telescoping pre-strike offs. The HS 1017 offers the same rigidity, density and mat quality as the HS 1020. The HS 1017 is available with optional quick attach extensions for paving up to 6.4 meters (21 ft.) wide.

The Pro-Pav series ES 1017 provides paving widths from 3 to 5.2 meters (10 to 17 ft.) with front mounted mini-screed extensions for maximum versatility in turns and congested work areas.

Finally, the Pro-Pav series FS 100, a fixed width 3-meter (10 ft.) screed, is available with or without hydraulic strike off extensions. Quick attach screed extensions are also available to deliver a uniform mat up to 8.5 meters (28 ft.) wide.
