Putzmeister Pipe Technology Introduces New Pipe for Mining, Industrial Applications

- National Edition

Putzmeister Pipe Technology has expanded its product line with the launch of its new range of pipe for mining and industrial applications. The new, high-wear resistant pipe is ideal for use in mining, tunneling, mills, foundries and power plants.

Putzmeister’s new industrial pipe product range includes non-hardened ST52 mild steel, single-layer induction hardened, and twin-layer hardened pipes, elbows, tees, wyes and reducers. It is best used for in-plant piping, tailing and backfill lines, waste disposal and slurry transport, according to the manufacturer.

“Our new mining and industrial pipe offers a wide range of types and sizes to accommodate nearly any application in those fields,” said Eric Zimmerman, general manager of Putzmeister Pipe Technology. “The pipe and elbow quality, nominal diameter, wall thickness and type of connections are chosen in collaboration with the customer, according to the requirements of the application.”

The new pipe’s diameter ranges from DN80 (3 in. [7.6 cm]) to DN250 (10 in. [25.4 cm]), with larger diameters, up to DN610 (24 in. [61 cm]), available upon request. Wall thickness ranges from 0.16 up to 0.50 in. (.4 to 1.3 cm). The single-wall pipe is hardened to 54 HRC, resulting in a service life which is two to three times longer than ST52. With an even longer wear life of five to 10 times that of ST52, the twin-layer pipe is hardened to 67 HRC.

Depending on diameter and application, the coupling connections can be fitted with smooth or centered weld ends. Centered connections are able to withstand pressures up to 200 bar (2,900 psi). Drop forged snap couplings secured with splint pins or screw couplings, as well as flange connections ranging from standard, raised or flat face, slip-on or butt-welded, connect two conveying components.

Offering a wide variety of pipe quality, sizes, and ends, Putzmeister’s new industrial pipe product range allows users to customize their own unique system to meet almost any job site demand.

The new mining and industrial pipe is available for immediate order.
