Wickersham Construction and Engineering Inc. recently received national recognition by winning a platinum level step award for its ongoing efforts in the development of a high-quality safety program, in the safety training and evaluation process.

In addition, Wickersham Construction was presented a Gold Level award for excellence in construction safety by the safety committee of the Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Manheim, Pa.

Joseph Dougherty, vice president/safety director commented, “We are exceedingly pleased with Michael Harbaugh, our safety manager, as well as all of our employees in the field on our projects. Their daily execution of safe building practices and continual support of our safety program has been outstanding this year. In the end, we are only as safe as how each and every one of our field employees protects themselves and others on our project sites.”

Now in its forth generation of ownership, Wickersham Construction and Engineering was founded in 1906 by Colonel John H. Wickersham. Wickersham was a pioneer in the design and construction of structures using reinforced concrete, his innovative leadership in construction led to several client relationships that have lasted many generations.

Starting in 1910, Wickersham constructed more than 24 manufacturing and administrative buildings for the Hershey Company’s original corporate facility. More recently, Wickersham acted as the general contractor for several expansion projects at Hersheypark, the Hershey Company, Milton Hershey School and Hershey Medical Center.

Today, Wickersham Construction provides a diverse range of services to commercial, institutional and industrial clients. These services include traditional general construction, design/build construction and construction management. Wickersham’s industrial services division meets the special challenges of performing small projects in an existing facility.
