PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) A key portion of the new Ronald Reagan Parkway opened July 11.

Government and construction officials cut the ribbon on 2 new mi. of the roadway between I-70 and U.S. 40 during a ceremony held July 6.

The new road is a four-lane concrete highway with a raised, grass-covered median, the type of road built with an expected life of more than 30 years, according to project manager Chuck Swildt of Structure Point.

“This is a milestone for the state and for Hendricks County,” Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman said during the ceremony held July 6.

The completed road will link I-70 and I-74 and open an area between Plainfield and Indianapolis International Airport for anticipated development of large warehouses and distribution centers and other job-producing businesses. It will run nearly 15 mi. through Hendricks County, through Plainfield, Avon and Brownsburg.

Plainfield officials said that the section from U.S. 40 to 200 South could be ready later this year.
