Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers sold more than 200 cranes in five weeks at its first unreserved public auctions of 2012 in North America, Europe and the Middle East — with close to 90 cranes already scheduled to be sold globally by the end of April. Every crane was sold to the highest bidder, regardless of price — with no minimum bids or reserve prices. The highest dollar value crane sold so far this year: a 2008 Liebherr LTM1400-7.1 400-ton all terrain crane sold for $2.1 million to an online bidder from India at a Ritchie Bros. auction in France on March 6, 2012.

So far in 2012 Ritchie Bros. has sold more than 70 rough terrain cranes, 25 all terrain cranes, 15 carry deck cranes, 15 crawler cranes, 10 conventional truck cranes, as well as 20 hydraulic truck cranes, 15 tower cranes and more. These cranes have been sold in auctions held in the United States, Canada, Dubai, France, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands.
At its upcoming auctions around the world, the company has close to 90 cranes already scheduled to be sold by the end of April. The line-up includes more than 40 rough terrain cranes, 15 hydraulic truck cranes, 10 all terrain cranes, as well as conventional truck cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes and more — with more cranes to be added.
2012 North American Crane Highlights
Of the 200 cranes sold at Ritchie Bros. auctions to-date in 2012, more than 135 of them were sold in North American auctions, including more than 55 rough terrain cranes, 10 carry deck cranes, 15 hydraulic truck cranes, 10 crawler cranes, tower cranes, as well as 10 conventional truck cranes and more.
Recent 2012 crane sales highlights from North America include: a 2007 Manitowoc 10000 crawler crane that sold for $565,000 to an online buyer from the state of Georgia at a Ritchie Bros. auction in Denver, Colo. (March 14). One week prior, at a Ritchie Bros. auction in Fort Worth, Texas (March 8 - 9), the company sold a 1994 Grove/Krupp KMK5175 175-ton all terrain crane for $340,000 to an on-site buyer from Mexico and a 2002 Kobelco CK850II 80-ton crawler crane for $255,000 to an online buyer from the state of Georgia.
The company already has a great selection of cranes to sell at its upcoming auctions across North America over the next few months, including auctions in Sacramento, Calif., on March 27 and in Lincoln, Neb., on April 25.
In the March 27 Sacramento auction, Ritchie Bros. sold a 1996 Grove GMK5160 all terrain crane, a 1997 Grove RT9100 rough terrain crane, as well as several other rough terrain cranes, conventional truck cranes and more than 2,000 trucks and heavy equipment items. In the April 25 Lincoln, NE auction, Ritchie Bros. will sell two 2008 Terex RT780 rough terrain cranes, a 2008 Terex HC110 crawler crane, as well as several other rough terrain cranes, crawler cranes and hundreds of heavy equipment items.
2012 European Crane Highlights
A new Ritchie Bros. European crane sale record has already been set this year: highest gross auction proceeds generated by the sale of a single crane at Ritchie Bros. auction in Europe in the history of the company, with the sale of a 2008 Liebherr LTM1400-7.1 400-ton all terrain crane that sold for $2.1 million dollars to an online buyer from India at a Ritchie Bros. auction in St. Aubin sur Gaillon, France on March 6, 2012 — this is also the highest dollar value crane sold globally so far in 2012 by Ritchie Bros.
In total, close to 50 of the 200 cranes sold by the company in 2012 to-date were sold at European auctions and more than 15 sold in the Middle East. Other European crane sale highlights include a 2000 Demag AC500-1 all terrain crane that sold for more than $1.6 million to an online buyer from the Netherlands and a 2005 Liebherr LTM1090-4.1 all terrain crane that sold for $538,000 to an online buyer from Australia — both of which sold at an auction in Caorso, Italy (March 8).
