Road Machinery & Supplies Co. (RMS) anounced that Dan Olson has been promoted to the position of vice president of Construction Equipment Sales. Olson was previously the sales manager of the Savage, Minn., facility and he replaces the position held by Ben Schmidtlein, who served as vice president of sales.
Olson's slight but meaningful title change underscores RMS' commitment to driving greater focus on all of its construction equipment business. In this new capacity, he will report directly to Russell Sheaffer, president of RMS.
Olson has spent his entire career in sales, first as a sales representative and later growing into various sales leadership roles including two at RMS.
"Since joining the company Dan has demonstrated a strong understanding of our market and has exemplified outstanding leadership and customer relationship skills," said Sheaffer.
Effective immediately, Olson will be responsible for managing the construction sales activities of Brad Carlson, service manager of northern Minnesota; Luther Braun, service managers of Iowa; the supporting functions provided by Matt Sill, new equipment manager; and Chris Potter, smart construction and paving solutions manager.
RMS is in the process of identifying Olson's replacement as quickly as possible. This will allow him to focus his efforts on more strategic and less transactional work, at which time he'll assume responsibilities for additional sales-related functions.
