Bobby Munter, auctioneer of The Sales Auction Company, began the public equipment auction promptly at 9 a.m. on Oct. 23. Per usual, Sam Sales, owner of The Sales Auction Company LLC, is hard at work searching the crowd for the highest bidder. Skip Phelps (L) from West Yarmouth, Mass., stops working at the auction long enough for a photo-op with Earl Reynolds of Leveille’s Auto Recyclers in Somers, Conn. During the sale, TJ Wisnieski of Manchester, Conn., tests out a 1986 Caterpillar 225BLC hydraulic excavator. Bidders gather around the lots of used equipment waiting to be sold. With bid books in hand, David Chase (L) of Agawam, Mass., and Michael Morassi of Capone’s Pool Water in Granby, Mass., are ready to buy equipment at The Sales Auction Company’s sale on Oct. 23. David Sales attended the heavy equipment auction in his home town of Windsor Locks, Conn. These excavators were among the 430 lots for sale featuring earthmoving equipment, asphalt paving and compaction equipment, forestry equipment and other miscellaneous municipal-owned vehicles, light and heavy duty trucks, trailers and much more. Bob Schmidt accompanied his son, Jason Schmidt, owner of Schmidt Lawn Care in Southington, Conn., to The Sales Auction Company’s fall sale. Ken and Steve Reeves, owner, of Reeves Transport in Enfield, Conn., make the perfect father and son team for buying equipment. Jason Beebe (L) of M&J Auto Recycling in Colchester, Conn., discusses business with Dan McHugh of Brookside Equipment Sales Inc. in Phillipston, Mass. Peter Alba of Ron’s Do It All in Windham, Conn., sits up high in a Michigan 75B rubber-tired wheel loader.
