STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) Construction giant Skanska AB said in late July that it has received an order worth $292 million to design and build a new U.S. Census Bureau headquarters near Washington.
Skanska will include $146 million in third-quarter order bookings as a result of the deal.
Skanska U.S.A. Building has been selected by the U.S. General Services Administration, GSA, to design and construct the facility at the Suitland Federal Center in Suitland, MD, near Washington.
The project’s second-phase award will be exercised by the GSA pending approval of funding in next year’s federal budget, which is expected in the fall. Work will begin next month and is scheduled to be completed in March 2007. HKS Inc. of Dallas, TX, will serve as the design consultant for the project. Skanska’s share of the project’s overall value is 96 percent, the company said.
