Sun City Landscapes is using its Cat equipment to make Southern Nevada beautiful. The company’s custom-designed landscapes, streetscapes and parks are seen in some of Las Vegas’ most exclusive developments.

The company, which has been in business since 1988 and has 300 employees, used other brands of compact construction equipment before switching to Caterpillar skid steer loaders two years ago. Sun City’s equipment fleet now includes 16 Cat 226 skid steer loaders, five Cat 928G wheel loaders and one Cat 416D backhoe loader.

“The Cat skid steers are definitely great machines,” said Louis Polish Jr., co-owner of Sun City Landscapes with partner Al Luchterhand. “But the service we get from Cashman is amazing. Their Global Positioning Systems, combined with PM services, help us significantly decrease downtime on our fleet.”

“Our Customer Support Agreements from Cashman also help us with hard numbers for our business plan,” said Luchterhand. “We are better able to control our maintenance and overhead costs by knowing our service numbers in advance.”

According to Luchterhand and Polish, Sun City’s switch to Cat equipment was a good business decision. “Cat has definitely lived up to our expectations,” said Luchterhand. “The equipment is reliable and Cashman’s service and product support make all the difference to us.”

With Cashman CSA and PM agreements on each machine, the dealership’s team of skilled technicians performs oil, filter and lube services on a regular basis. They also perform complete machine inspections and oil sampling every 250 hours.

Sun City’s skid steers average 100 hours of operating time per month, making regular machine service critical to the company’s operations.

“Cashman handles all of the service on our Cat machines,” said Polish. “So we don’t have to worry about downtime hurting our projects. Our integrity is important to our business. When we tell our customers a project will be done, we make sure it gets done. Cashman is a partner in our business success.”

Cashman Equipment is Nevada’s Caterpillar dealership, providing equipment, power solutions, service, parts and rentals throughout the state and in Northern California. Cashman has six Nevada locations including Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, Elko, Winnemucca and Round Mountain. It also operates a Cashman Rental Store in Mammoth Lakes, CA.
