Northeast Cat dealer Southworth-Milton Inc. has added portable screening plants from The Screen Machine and Tiger Screen to its equipment lineup.

Southworth-Milton initially will carry a broad range of products from the Scalper 67C to the Achiever 46 trommel screen as well as conveyor-type scalper and traditional conveyor screening plants.

Among the new machines will be the Tiger Screen 45D, an easy-to-transport model designed for skid steer loaders. The addition of the screening plants will extend Southworth-Milton’s ability to serve the needs of its customers, according to Larry Cutliffe, marketing director.

“The Screen Machine line is an ideal match to Southworth-Milton’s other product lines,” Cutliffe said. “After all, what better equipment to use to feed a screening plant than a Cat wheel loader or excavator.”

Several of the screening models feature the recently patented Smooth Start technology that allows the machines to start easily without the risk of damage from over-vibration.

Smooth Start reduces structural fatigue and bearing failure during the slower speeds of start up and warm up. The technology uses expandable counterweights located on the shaker screen shaft that retract during start up to eliminate violent shaking throughout the machinery. As the screen shaft increases to the operational speed, the counterweights extend outward to generate the desired vibration needed for screening.

The screening plants available through Southworth-Milton will include scalper models 67C, 67D and 107C, D and T as well as trommel screens and traditional conveyor types with or without shredders. The Tiger Screen 45D is a self-contained model for use with Cat skid steer loaders that is easy-to-use and sets up in minutes. Its 4-by-5 double-deck shaker screen is powered by a 4.5-hp (3.4 kW) diesel engine with electric start.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our customers these products,” Cutliffe said. “The Screen Machine has come to represent a standard of excellence for the industry as a whole. Over the past three decades, the company has set consistently high standards in product design, features and quality control.”

Southworth-Milton, Screen Machine buyers will have access to local inventory; factory direct pricing; flexible purchase, lease, rental and rent-to-own acquisition options; and well-trained, knowledgeable sales and support staff.

“Our goal is to provide the finest product support available in the screening industry,” Cutliffe said.
