State Line Auto Auction Holds Semi-Annual Sale in New York

On May 18, State Line Auto Auction held its semi-annual heavy construction and farm equipment sale at its massive auction facility in Waverly, N.Y. State Line Auto Auction, which was founded in 1981 by the Barber family, has grown into one of the most respected, family-owned automobile auction houses in the northeast selling on average more than 1,200 vehicles each week.

A few years ago, Jeff Barber and his son, Paul, decided to start diversifying the auction company into the construction and farm equipment arena. This sale featured a nice selection of excavators, loaders, skid steers, light towers, farm tractors and other miscellaneous pieces of construction and agricultural equipment.

One of the highlights of this year’s auction was a very nice lineup of work-ready skid steers.

As Paul Barber gets things started in the auction booth, Jeff Barber keeps a watchful eye on the gathering crowd so he doesn’t miss a single bid.

Tom Howe (L) and Al Stage, both of State Line Auto Auction, are ready to work with customers to put together consignments for their next sale this fall.

This New Holland TW40 with a boom mower came in fresh from a local municipality.

Tony and Rachel Barnhart traveled from central Pennsylvania to make purchases for several used equipment dealers and auction houses.

The sale included a couple of vocational trucks, including dump bodies and plows from the town of Susquehanna.

Milton Cat’s Ricky Bullock and his wife, Bonnie, stopped by to enjoy the excitement of the auction and to monitor the prices of some of the Cat used iron.

A large crowd gathers for the start of the sale.

Art Hill of Art Hill Excavating in Medina, N.Y., loves a good auction. He is still involved in the excavation business, but occasionally enjoys buying and selling a few pieces of used iron.

Rounding out the sale are a handful of good used mid-sized excavators and some lightly used Genie manlifts.
