NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - A 35-year-old Bridgeport man has been arrested after crashing a minivan in an Interstate 95 construction zone, injuring two workers.

Norwalk police Lt. Paul Resnick tells the Connecticut Post (http://bit.ly/1LDyu2v) an officer pursued Marino De Los Santos at about 2 a.m. Saturday after attempting to stop him for a stolen registration plate. Resnick said the officer broke off the chase approaching the construction zone.

Police said De Los Santos lost control near Exit 11 in Norwalk, hitting a guardrail and a construction truck. A woman in his minivan was ejected and seriously injured. De Los Santos and another passenger also were hurt.

He is held on $50,000 bail on several charges including drunken driving, assault with a motor vehicle and reckless operation. He is due in court Sept. 8. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
