Suburban Contractors Association Member Michael Castellano Dies at 79

Michael Castellano, 79, of Media, PA, retired public relations director of the Suburban Contractors Association (SCA), died of complications from a stroke on Dec. 14.

For more than 20 years, until his retirement in 1998, Mr. Castellano was a public relations director for the SCA. According to his son, Daniel, Mr. Castellano increased membership, lobbied for the association in Harrisburg, published the SCA’s monthly newsletter and organized social events for members’ families. He also volunteered for the Delaware Valley Association of Equipment Distributors (DVAED) as treasurer.

Mr. Castellano grew up in South Philadelphia. He graduated from La Salle College High School and attended La Salle College and the University of Pittsburgh. During World War II, he served as a medic in the Army in France and Germany.

He married Marie Cappelli in 1949. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Chris; a son, Daniel; two sisters; and two grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Chester Heights, PA.
