Sweeney Excavation Inc., one of the Sweeney Companies, has launched a new division, providing poured concrete for building foundations. The company has made a significant commitment to this division, both in manpower and equipment, by hiring eight experienced concrete professionals and investing in the purchase of specialty equipment.

The company has secured its first contact for these services with AvalonBay Communities, where it will pour all concrete building foundations for their newest project, a residential apartment complex that will include 200 plus apartments, carports, garages and a club house, located on Prindle Hill Road in Orange, CT. Sweeney Excavation and AvalonBay have collaborated on other projects including luxury apartment complexes both in New Haven and New Canaan.

Sweeney Excavation also is the contracted site development contractor on this project, providing all excavation, infrastructure and utilities, asphalt and concrete paving.

Bob Sweeney, the founder and president of the Sweeney Companies, stated “The launch of this division gives us the opportunity to provide a product to our customers that is unmatched in the field. We will bring the same efficiencies and professionalism that our customers presently enjoy from our earthwork activities to the concrete foundation division.

“By providing these combined services, our customer’s management teams do not have the added burden of scheduling and managing the interface of these two major activities on their job sites.”

The Sweeney Companies consist of Sweeney Excavation, a provider of commercial site work services; Sweeney Residential and Blue Diamond Quarry, which supplies aggregate products for the construction industry, homeowners and landscapers.
