Armon H. Bost, noted philanthropist and retired chairman of Midwesco Industries of Tulsa, OK, died March 5. He was 94.

Bost was a retired chairman of Midwesco Industries, the parent company of Midwestern Equipment Co. and Midwestern Manufacturing Co., both based in Tulsa; Midwestern Pipeline Products Co. and HiWay Equipment Co. of Houston.

Founded by Bost more than 50 years ago, Midwestern Manufacturing introduced the first hydraulically operated sideboom attachment, and continues to develop specialty products for use in pipeline construction.

Bost graduated from Alva High School in 1927 and later earned an economics degree at Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University.

The civic leader was known for community service and received many awards. He was inducted into the Oklahoma State University College of Business Hall of Fame, the OSU Alumni Hall of Fame, and received the Henry G. Bennett Distinguished Service and Edna Mae Phelps Library Awards.

Bost also was the president of the Tulsa school board; a charter member of the Oklahoma Commission on Education; a past president of the OSU Board of Regents; an Oklahoma Methodist Conference Foundation trustee, and a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, where he was the chairman of the administrative board and a member of the executive committee.

In addition, Bost was a past president of the Tulsa Boys’ Home board, a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, a past Royal Order of Jesters chairman, a 32nd-degree Mason and a charter member of The Summit Club.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, a son, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
