Under a new agreement, Universal Engineering has authorized MPS Machinery Company Inc. to sell Universal’s product line of parts and industrial systems for the aggregates, mining and recycling industries in eastern Texas.

“We’re thrilled to be working with MPS Machinery Company Inc.,” said Daniel Ferguson, Universal Engineering CEO.

“By aligning MPS Machinery Company Inc.’s extensive distribution network and solid reputation with Universal Engineering’s industry-leading machines, we’ve formed a truly win-win partnership,” Ferguson said. “MPS Machinery Company Inc. will now be able to provide its customers with the machines that truly are the choice of the industry and Universal Engineering will expand into new markets.”

Universal also has recently appointed new distributors covering states including Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and southern Illinois.

For more than 90 years, Universal Engineering Corp. has designed and manufactured machinery and parts including jaw crushers, impact crushers, roll crushers, hammermills, conveying systems, mobile plants and feeders.

Operating under the Pettibone name in the mid-1990s, Universal was acquired by Svedala Industries in Malmo, Sweden. In 2001, Metso Corporation of Finland acquired all the stock of Svedala Industries and Universal fell under the control of Metso Minerals, whose post-acquisition plan determined that Metso would either close or sell Universal.

In April 2002. certain key management of Universal formed Universal Engineering Corp., which plans to continue providing U.S.-engineered and built crushing equipment through a network of distributors that, on average, have represented Universal equipment for more than 20 years.

MPS, located in DeSoto, TX, specializes in crushing, screening and washing equipment.
