It features a vertical lift design, high flotation undercarriage, and rubber tracks for improved traction and reduced ground disturbance on soft or uneven terrain. The 299D3 is commonly equipped with a turbocharged diesel engine, hydraulic attachment capability, and a sealed, pressurized cab option for operator comfort. Known for maneuverability in confined spaces, the Caterpillar 299D3 is used with buckets, forks, augers, trenchers, and other skid steer style attachments.
