The Caterpillar 309 CR is a compact radius excavator in Caterpillar's mini and compact excavator lineup. It is designed for digging, trenching, lifting, grading, and utility work in confined job sites where maneuverability is important. The 309 CR typically features a reduced tail swing design, hydraulic versatility for attachments, and a cab or canopy configuration depending on market and specification. As an excavator, it is used in construction, landscaping, municipal work, and site preparation. The model is known for combining compact dimensions with operating capability suited to urban and restricted-access applications.
