In late April and early May, approximately 90 association members and spouses participated in the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association’s (UTCA) Executive Seminar, which included visits to Tuscany and Lake Como, Italy, in the lakes area of northern Italy.

Educational sessions during the trip included legislative and legal issues involving construction, construction of new highway bridges and a highway between Florence and Milan, and the economic vitality of the Lake Como region as it relates to maritime transportation.

The group visited Pisa, Siena and Lucca, an ancient Roman city, while in the Florence area. Attendees also participated in a visit to the Castello di Verranzano Winery where they were treated to lunch and wine tasting. As the group traveled to Lake Como, it visited the city of Bologna and while at Lake Como, it visited Milan, Bellagio and Lugano, Switzerland.

James Reid, association president and Ed Nyland, executive seminar chairman, led the seminar group during the visit.

UTCA has announced arrangements for its 2005 Executive Seminar. The group will visit Costa Rica and participate in a boat trip on the Panama Canal. Seminar dates are Jan. 7 to 16, 2005.
