For heavy construction and land development crews, the biggest drains on profitability are excessive fuel consumption, high equipment maintenance and repetitive grading cycles. To solve this, Strobel Manufacturing engineered a powerful tandem system: the Strobel HD 20 Heavy Duty Box Scraper and Dual Earth Packer combination.

This system cuts, fills, levels and packs massive swaths of terrain in a single, efficient pass, delivering a drastically lower cost per banked cubic yard, accordingto Strobel.

One-Pass Tandem Solution

Traditional earthmoving workflows require an array of single-purpose machines: one to cut the dirt, another to level it and a heavy roller to compact it. This creates major operational bottlenecks and drives up labor costs.

The Strobel integrated scraper-packer tandem eliminates these extra steps completely. By hooking the 20-ft. heavy-duty box scraper directly ahead of the heavy-duty Dual Earth Packers, contractors combine land leveling and high-density compaction into one streamlined operation. Contractors instantly save time, conserve fuel and drastically reduce the number of operators needed on site, according to Strobel.

Built Strobel Strong

When managing large-scale commercial site preparation, feedlot development or agricultural land improvement, structural integrity is non-negotiable. As the widest model in its class, the massive HD 20 is engineered specifically to withstand punishing industrial conditions.

Reinforced Structure: Features reinforced, solid-welded sidewalls that prevent flexing and handle high-volume material loads without structural fatigue.

Frame Integrity: A continuous tongue is welded entirely through the frame directly to the heavy back plate, optimizing pulling power and stabilizing the unit under maximum stress. Folding tongue and axles allows for transport without wide load permits.

Superior Longevity: Built with anti-rotational, fully greaseable pivot points and replaceable high-strength cutting blades to minimize maintenance downtime.

Ultimate Weapon for Haul Road Maintenance

Potholes, ruts and wash boarding on heavy construction haul roads cause immediate, costly damage to haul truck suspensions, tires and cycle times. The HD 20 and Dual Packer combination serves as a maintenance solution for high-traffic haul roads.

The massive 20-ft. wide cutting blade effortlessly shaves off high spots, drops material into deep ruts and crowns the road for proper drainage, the company said. Immediately behind the blade, the Strobel Earth Packer seals the surface. Armed with hardened Stoodite teeth arranged in a high-density configuration — providing 30 percent more hard-surfaced teeth than a standard chevron pattern — the packers deliver exceptional, deep compaction while self-cleaning on every single revolution. The result is a well-compacted, tightly sealed haul road that maximizes haul truck speeds and minimizes equipment wear, according to Strobel.

High Agility, Permit-Free Transport

Despite its massive working footprint, the Strobel system is uniquely engineered for jobsite transitions. Moving a traditional 20-ft. wide piece of equipment normally demands expensive wide-load permits, escort vehicles and routing restrictions.

Strobel bypasses this regulatory bottleneck entirely with an intelligent, transport-friendly design, the company said. The HD 20 features a specialized fold-in tongue alongside folding axles. This allows the entire configuration to fold down into a compact profile, enabling legal road transport between job sites without wide-load permits. On the job, this same axle and tongue geometry grants operators increased agility, allowing for tight, nimble turns in confined spaces that traditional scrapers simply cannot match, according to Strobel.

Strobel also offers this set-up with a HD 12 Scraper and Single Packer. This setup delivers maximum dual-action earthmoving efficiency in tight spaces, sharp turns and restricted construction sites where massive self-propelled equipment cannot navigate, added the company.

Lower Capital Investment, Better Bottom Line

Investing in self-propelled scrapers and dedicated motor graders requires immense capital expenditure and steep ongoing maintenance costs. The pull-type Strobel HD 20 and Dual Packer system optimizes contractors' existing tractor fleet, turning a high-horsepower tractor into a high-production mass grading and compaction machine, according to Strobel.
