Volvo Construction Equipment’s recently founded company Volvo Construction Equipment Rents, Inc., has signed agreements with three companies to launch its construction equipment rental operation in North America.

The new independently owned and operated rental companies opened rental centers under the Volvo name in Atlanta, GA; Bossier City, LA; and, Orlando, FL. The companies are Atlanta Construction Equipment Services Inc. (Atlanta), Sparks Equipment Plus Inc. (Bossier City), and Florida Contractors Rental Inc. (Orlando).

The first new Volvo Construction Equipment Rents rental center to open was Atlanta Construction Equipment Services Inc., which began business in Alpharetta (Atlanta), Georgia, on Feb. 4, 2002.

"Our new Volvo Rents center is in a metropolitan area that is forecast to develop nearly $2.5 billion worth of construction projects during the next 5 years," said Reggie Holderfield, president of the Atlanta company. "The Volvo Construction Equipment rental program – and the Volvo name – will give us a tremendous advantage in supplying the construction industry with the tools it needs to make this remarkable expansion possible," Holderfield said.

Holderfield’s company plans to open at least four additional Volvo Rents centers in the Atlanta area within the next few months.

Volvo Construction Equipment began its rental initiative in 2001. This was a major new strategy for the company and one that the company felt essential for the distribution of, among others, its compact construction equipment, and a significant segment of both the rental market and the Volvo Construction Equipment product line. Volvo Rents centers will carry, in addition to Volvo construction equipment, a full line of necessary equipment and tools for the construction, commercial, industrial, and homeowner markets. These tools and equipment will be supplied by leading manufacturers.

"In addition, our recent acquisitions of a skid steer loader line and a telehandler line, combined with the introduction of our backhoe loader are major elements and key steps in building a comprehensive rental program, focusing on the needs and requirements of our customers," Helsham said.
