Recently, the Virginia Road and Transportation Builders Association (VRTBA) presented two scholarships to Virginia students.
Courtney F. Roberts, of Valentines, VA, is the recipient of The Rutherfoord Companies Scholarship.
Roberts graduated from Brunswick Academy in Lawrenceville, VA, in June and will attend the University of Virginia in the fall. She plans to major in Civil Engineering.
Roberts accomplishments include serving as yearbook staff editor in chief, National Honor Society, Honor Council and numerous community service activities.
Her father, Dennis Roberts, is employed by Slurry Pavers, Glen Allen, VA.
Aaron D. Boston, of Powhatan, VA, is the recipient of the VRTBA Associate Scholarship.
He is currently attending the University of Virginia where he is majoring in Civil Engineering.
Boston’s activities include serving as a volunteer soccer coach, playing several sports, Math League and traveling as a high school exchange student to New Zealand.
His father, Ray Adkins, is employed by Vecellio & Grogan Inc.
The $2,500 scholarships are awarded by VRTBA’s Associate (supplier) members. The Rutherfoord Companies Scholarship is named in honor of its founder Thomas D. Rutherfoord Sr.
