Wacker Neuson’s BS 50-4s, 4-cycle rammer features a new engine that offers more power and improved compaction performance. The Wacker Neuson WM 100 engine is specifically engineered to withstand rugged rammer applications and with its 10-percent increased power it is more productive and easier to handle, according to the manufacturer.

“The new WM 100 with its extra horsepower and torque allowed our engineers to optimize the ramming system,” said Dave Schulenberg, compaction product manager of Wacker Neuson. “Because of this engine, the BS 50-4s has the highest amplitude and highest beat frequency of any 4-cycle rammer on the market.”

The BS 50-4s hits at 700 blows per minute and has an amplitude (stroke) of 2.56 in. (6.5 cm), improving productivity, compaction performance and handling in high lift applications.

Operators also will notice that the BS 50-4s is easier to start as the result of a purge bulb carburetor. The purge bulb allows the operator to purge air out of the carburetor and replace it with fuel. Because the fuel is being pulled through rather than forced into the carburetor, there is no danger of over priming, and allows for easier, faster starting with less effort, according to the manufacturer.

Overall operation is easier on the BS 50-4s as well. The integral ignition and fuel shut off are in the throttle, allowing the operator to turn the engine off and stop fuel flow by pushing the throttle to the stop position. This system reduces complexity for the operator.

Wacker Neuson’s 4-cycle rammer continues to feature the low oil shutoff that provides technology to protect the engine. When starting the unit, if an electronic capacity sensor detects no oil or low oil the engine will shut off within 10 seconds. Wacker Neuson rammers offer an air filter compensating carburetor for longer service life between air filter changes and the three-phase air filtration system provides virtually dust-free engine operation for longer life and improved durability.

Wacker Neuson rammers are designed for the compaction of cohesive, mixed and granular soils in confined areas.
