The Master Builders’ Association of Western PA (MBA) has announced the hiring of Jon O’Brien as its director of communications.

In addition, Bernadette Shawgo, former MBA controller, will fill the newly created position of director of committee administration.

O’Brien comes to the MBA after two and a half years at The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) as the organization’s certification manager, in charge of an industrial coatings certification program.

Originally, he began at SSPC as its event planner, where his primary duties included planning, promoting, and running SSPC’s annual conference.

Shawgo has been employed at the MBA for more than 15 years as the organization’s controller. Her overall knowledge of the association and its committee structure make her an ideal candidate to fill the newly created position of director of committee administration.

The MBA has been promoting and advancing the building construction industry in Western Pennsylvania since 1886.
