On Sept. 16, Wayne Supply held a grand opening celebration for its newest location in Dry Ridge, KY. With the opening of its latest operation, Whayne Supply has expanded its coverage to 10 full-service locations.

The new 18,000-sq.-ft. facility will offer Caterpillar equipment, parts and service, as well as sales and rentals. The opening of the Dry Ridge location has created 10 new jobs in the area and the company fully expects continued growth at the store, particularly in its highway truck engine service because of the branches proximity to an exit ramp for Interstate 75.

According to Whayne Supply President Monty Boyd, the company takes its time selecting possible locations for expansion and feels the Dry Ridge location will help it better serve loyal customers in northern Kentucky, while attracting new customers as well.

“Whayne Supply is grateful to our loyal customers in northern Kentucky that have traveled miles to do business with us,” said Boyd. “I am confident the new store will bring [our customers] the level of service that they well deserve.”

Roy C. Whayne Sr. founded Whayne Supply Company in Louisville in 1913, selling light engines, pumps, wheelbarrows and bicycles.

Whayne signed a contract to represent the Holt Manufacturing Company in 1920. Five years later, Holt merged with the Best Company to form Caterpillar Tractor Company, and Whayne began its long-term association with this leading manufacturer of earthmoving equipment.

Today, the company Whayne started on a shoestring budget is one of the oldest and largest heavy equipment dealerships in North America, employing more than 1,000 people, representing a variety of major equipment lines and maintaining extensive parts inventory and service capabilities, while still playing a major role as good corporate citizens in all of the communities it serves.
