Wickersham Construction and Engineering Inc. employee Daryl Lefever was recently presented the Individual Safety Recognition for 2010 by The Keystone Chapter, Associated Builders & Contractors.
Lefever was given this special award in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments and contributions in the area of safety. Lefever was following an electrician into a water treatment plant’s chemical storage room when immediately upon entering, the electrician was sprayed by a caustic soda liquid with a level three health hazard rating. The man thought it was water and continued into the room in an attempt to save his documents, but Lefever instinctively reacted and pulled both himself and the electrician from harms way.
Lefever later stated he knew what to do because he took the initiative and read the material safety data sheets (MSDS) located at that job site and was aware of the hazardous chemicals he may well encounter. Due to Lefever’s quick thinking he most likely saved this individual from serious burns, pulmonary edema and/or blindness.
Now in its forth generation of ownership, Wickersham Construction and Engineering was founded in 1906 by Colonel John H. Wickersham. Colonel Wickersham was a pioneer in the design and construction of structures using reinforced concrete, his leadership in construction led to several client relationships that have lasted many generations.

More recently, Wickersham acted as the general contractor for several expansion projects at Hersheypark, the Hershey Company, Milton Hershey School and Hershey Medical Center.
Today, Wickersham Construction provides a diverse range of services to commercial, institutional and industrial clients.
