Worker Crushed in Construction Accident

Co-workers tried in vain to use a crane to rescue the man.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A falling slab of concrete has crushed a construction worker to death in Oceanside.

Police say the man was working at the future site of a FedEx distribution center Tuesday when the slab fell on top of him.

Co-workers used a crane to remove the slab but despite life-saving efforts the man was declared dead at the scene.

Police say the man was in his mid-fifties but his name hasn’t been released.

The accident is under investigation.
