The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 began work Dec. 4 to repair the U.S. Route 250 bridge over State Route 416 near New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia that was damaged in mid-October when it was hit by a garbage truck.

ODOT closed the westbound U.S. 250 travel lane but left the westbound passing lane open. The eastbound lanes of U.S. 250 were not affected by this work.

Additionally, SR 416 southbound was reduced to one lane. The inside thru lane on SR 416 southbound was closed, and the turn lane to eastbound U.S. 250 was shortened.

ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Dick Bible said, “In an effort to minimize congestion and delays caused by this work, we included a contract note to restrict the days and times the contractor may impact traffic.”

ODOT’s contractor for this $114,963 project is Armstrong Steel Erectors, Inc., from Newark, Ohio. Work is expected to be completed by Dec. 21, 2007.
