The Case distribution gap from southern Alabama to the Florida panhandle has been filled by 1 Source Power & Equipment, Mobile, Ala.

1 Source is now the authorized Case dealer of 11 counties in southern Alabama and 10 counties west of Tallahassee in the Florida panhandle.

In addition to Alabama and Florida, 1 Source also rents and sells used machines throughout the Gulf Coast.

“This was a dream for us. The opportunity to open a Case distributorship presented itself and we took advantage of it and are hopeful that we caught the market on an upswing and that we will grow with it,” said Ray Hatcher, partner and director of sales and marketing.

Hatcher and 1 Source President Rusty Miles previously worked in the rental and sales division of a privately owned equipment dealership before they decided to take a risk and start their own business. With the help of 1 Source Vice President Russell Miles, who brings more than 30 years of experience in the heavy equipment industry, they were able to pool their resources and make that dream a reality.

1 Source has been in business at its 10,000-sq.-ft. location since March 2012 and is stocked with four drive-through shop bays and a five-ton (4.5 t) overhead crane to service the entire shop area, including a covered wash bay with a water recycling unit and a complete parts department.

Other members of the 1 Source team are Parts and Service Manager Paul Haulard, Field Operations Manager Chad Stewart and Sales Coordinator John Graves. To augment its in-house service staff, 1 Source has started with two field service technicians, who each have fully equipped service vehicles, which allow them to provide 24-hour onsite service.

Hatcher also said they are looking into adding to the company’s sales force.

As the market dictates, the company also anticipates growing through complementing lines to better serve the needs of its customer base.

“We have a three-year plan to open up to four additional locations along the I-10 corridor,” Hatcher said.

Hatcher is both optimistic and excited about the new business.

“Rusty [Miles] and I are two young, aggressive salesmen who, along with the industry experience brought to the table by Russell, wanted to try something new,” he said. “We felt like we could start a new business and didn’t know any other way than to just let the rubber meet the road. We used our experience and training to formulate a plan that put us in a position to take advantage of opportunities in the market. We saw the industry as currently being slow enough for us to establish ourselves in it, but stable enough for us to generate some immediate revenue and gain market share in anticipation of riding the upward growth curve with everyone else.”

Hatcher added that he expects to see a substantial increase in business in the next two to three years.

In Florida, 1 Source covers these counties: Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Calhoun, Gulf and Jackson.
