Dean Machinery Welcomes New Hires

Dean Machinery Co. (DMC) welcomes Robert M. Boatright, Mike Plunkett, Marc Dowdell and Doug Ballou to the company.

Boatright will take over as vice president of information technology. He began his service with the company in 2009 and is responsible for supporting all company business applications; hardware, software, networking, and telecommunications. Prior to joining dean Machinery Co.,

Boatright was chief technology officer of Plattform Advertising, in Olathe, Kan. Other previous positions include vice president of information technology at Ascend Media and director of applications development for Payless Shoesource.

Plunkett will take over as chief financial officer.

Plunkett began his service to the company in 2009. As chief financial officer of DMC, he is responsible for directing all financial activities of the Company and ensuring its long-term financial strength. Plunkett brings a combination of financial and operational management experience to DMC.

Plunkett began his career at Arthur Andersen in the Business Consulting Division where he consulted on operational, financial technology, and strategic issues. After leaving Andersen, he was the CFO and a director for a Kansas City-based manufacturing company and then founded his own consulting company focusing on financial and technology management services.

In 1999, he co-founded MachineryLink Inc., now a nationwide agriculture equipment rental and management company in North America. Plunkett served as both chief financial officer and senior vice president of logistics and operations and was involved in every aspect of building the business, including raising capital, working with outside investors and directors, establishing financial operations, building the field service and logistics operations, developing the management team, and managing significant growth.

For three years prior to joining DMC, Plunkett was the Chief Operating Officer for Kansas City-based StrategicOne, a national marketing analytics and data management company. Mike managed the financial turnaround of that company and launched successful new Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence products.

Dowdell joins DMC as vice president of sales.

Dowdell joined Dean Machinery Co. in late September 2009. Dowdell will be responsible for general line sales and rental revenue, fleet management, and the agricultural division throughout the Dean sales territory.

Dowdell has more than 16 years of construction dealer management experience overseeing the entire operational infrastructure as well as sales and marketing. Prior to joining Dean, Dowdell was president of a privately held rental company. Dowdell’s background also includes tenure with a Volvo, Manitowoc, and Grove dealership as general manager for New York City, New Jersey, and the eastern half of NY state and as division manager for another Caterpillar dealer.

Ballou will serve as vice president of marketing and chief experience officer (CXO). Ballou began his service to the company on Aug. 10. As vice president of marketing, Ballou is responsible for shaping and building the Dean Machinery brand in the market place. As CXO his responsibilities include developing and drivnig the formula for the Dean Customer Experience throughout the company.

Ballou is a marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience in the equipment and agribusiness fields, and as a private business owner. His experience includes tenure as managing partner of Whitworth Ballou, vice president of marketing of MachineryLink, and director of corporate and marketing communications for Yellow Transportation (now YRC).

Since 1955, throughout western Missouri and eastern Kansas, providing sales, rental, parts, and service for Caterpillar machines, engines, and generators.
