Ascent Power has been named the exclusive distributor of a new line of commercial emergency power generators manufactured by Detroit Diesel Corp.

In Missouri, its territory extends west to greater metropolitan Columbia, MO, and covers the eastern half of the state from the Iowa to Arkansas borders.

In Illinois, Ascent’s service area is bound by Hancock County on the north, Pulaski County on the south and greater metropolitan Springfield, IL, on the east.

Ascent Power is a subsidiary of Ascent Corp., an 80-employee Olivette, MO-based firm that designs, deploys and manages mission critical technical facilities and building technology infrastructure.

“The formation of Ascent Power is a natural off-shoot of our core business,” said Phil Horstmann, president of Ascent Corp. and Ascent Power. “Year after year, we see more and more corporate clients who no longer view uninterrupted power as a luxury, but as a necessity.”

Generators range in size from 20 to 2,800 kW for diesel units and from 20 to 800 kW for natural gas units.

“When a power disruption is sensed, our generator system engages automatically to fill the void until power is restored,” said Peg Johnston. business development associate for Ascent Power.

“In situations in which not even a brief interruption of power can be tolerated, we can install an uninterruptible power supply that maintains electrical service until the generator takes over.”

In addition to initial installation, Ascent Power also provides a generator service program to maintain all generator systems.

Detroit Diesel is a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler.
