Bobcat Company, a business unit of Ingersoll-Rand, has introduced the Bobcat 864 G-series compact track loader featuring a next-generation cab and instrumentation that increase operator comfort and enhance productivity.

The Bobcat 864’s track system improves flotation, traction and maneuverability. It has a rated operating capacity (ROC) of 907 kilograms (2,000 lbs.) at 35 percent of its 2,592-kilogram (5,715 lb.) tipping load, the standard measurement for compact track loaders.

Tracks Improve Performance

Rubber tracks on the Bobcat 864 distribute weight over a larger area than is possible with a wheeled machine, delivering a smoother ride in rough terrain and improving maneuverability. This increased ground-to-surface contact also improves traction and flotation for greater productivity in soft, wet, muddy or sandy conditions.

Operators have a choice of two track widths: 32 or 45 centimeters (12.6 or 17.7 in.). The narrow track provides better traction for general digging and excavating applications and the wide track provides improved flotation in soft ground conditions. As track width increases, ground pressure decreases. In fact, the 32-centimeter (12.6 in.) track exerts only 5.2 psi of ground pressure, and the 45-centimeter (17.7 in.) track exerts just 3.8 psi.

The 864 compact track loader design is based on the long-wheelbase Bobcat 863 skid steer loader with a similar upper-frame structure, lift arms, operator cab and controls. However, the 864 features a unique lower transmission design which allows for more than 28 centimeters (11 in.) of center ground clearance. The increased clearance adds to the 864’s effectiveness in wet or soggy conditions.

Built-In Power, Dependability

The 864 features a powerful 54.4-kilowatt (73 hp) turbo-charged diesel engine. The drive train uses two high-torque, direct-drive hydrostatic motors that connect to the track drive sprocket, providing enough power to perform in the toughest digging applications. The 864 is designed to endure the rugged environments of excavating, land clearing and construction yet is light-footed enough for landscaping and tree nurseries.

More than two dozen job-matched attachments are approved for use on the new compact track loader, including a dozer blade, various buckets, hydraulic breaker, grapples, pallet forks, landscaping attachments, rotary cutter, tree transplanter, snowblower, trencher and vibratory roller.

Enhancements Increase Operator Comfort

Based on input from skid steer loader users around the globe, the G-series was designed to be more operator-friendly and enhance operator efficiency. Bobcat G-series cab enhancements include a new rear-pivot seat bar that offers more room for larger operators and more armrest support; an optional contoured cab door that increases visibility and maximizes cab space; a larger cab opening for easy entry and exit; and a high-efficiency heating and cooling system with four directional-flow vents that rotate to direct heat and cool air where it is most needed.

The optional deluxe instrument panel includes a variety of features, including a keyless start security system, advanced monitoring and diagnostic capabilities, system shutdown protection and help menus with multi-language support.
