On May 11, 2018, Carolina Cat hosted an open house at its Monroe, N.C., location.

The event was held to introduce the latest Caterpillar machines and allied brands offered by the company. The new next generation Cat 323 excavator drew a steady flow of contractors throughout the day, as did the other Cat machines, including: the Cat D5K LGP dozer, 930M wheel loader, Cat 308 E excavators and the Cat 289 with the box blade attachment. There were products from Morooka and Fiori as well.

  • Cat 323 excavator: this next generation excavator has the speed, efficiency and power for your heavy-duty applications requiring maximum productivity. You get built-in Cat GRADE with 2D, grade assist and payload as standard equipment right from the factory, which boosts your operator efficiency. Combine these features with a new cab, longer maintenance intervals and reduced fuel consumption that lower maintenance costs and fuel consumption, and you have a low-cost-per-unit-of-production excavator built for heavy-duty applications.
  • The Cat 289 with box blades AccuGrade: this machine is designed for grading and leveling. Each model is designed to operate both manually and automatically with the use of laser or GPS grading systems. These models are ideal for grading and leveling of large commercial properties, housing pads, roadways and parking lots.
  • The Cat D5K features slope indicate, a new grade control feature that provides you a slope of the blade in cross slope direction and mainfall (fore/aft) direction without having to estimate. A new blade control feature helps you obtain a finish grade with less operator effort. The new traction control feature automatically reduces track slip without having to lift the blade, providing improved productivity and reduced undercarriage wear for lower operating costs.
  • Morooka rubber track carriers do what other machines cannot — combining traction with maximum load capacity, they go wherever you have a job that needs doing. With a wide range of rubber track carriers, Morooka can match a model to any job.
  • Fiori dumpers: this vehicle is extremely versatile, with enhanced performance in restricted spaces such as narrow alleyways in city centers, lanes or tunnels. It provides an ideal solution when driving; reversibility, visibility and safe maneuverability are absolute necessities for transport of materials. This is one of the most compact vehicles of its segment (8,800 lb. capacity, 180 degree pan rotation and three-way dumping). FIORI GROUP dumpers offer perfect traction and maneuverability on rough terrains, while also ensuring safe, flexible, user-friendly driving both forward and in reverse.
