Caterpillar unveiled work tools designed to manage snow removal in the harshest weather conditions. The material handling bucket and straight snow push ensure a safe and reliable snow removal process while increasing efficiency and decreasing time on the job, according to the manufacturer.

The attachments convert a Cat skid steer, compact track, multi-terrain, compact wheel, backhoe and small wheel loaders into a clearing powerhouse regardless of the season.

102 In. Material Handling Bucket

The material handling bucket, model 2591, is the largest (width, height and capacity) offered in the bucket family. Capable of carrying up to 1.7 cu. yds. (1.3 cu m) of material at a time, the bucket is ideal for removing snow from roadways, parking lots and sidewalks. Not only is the bucket built for winter conditions, it is actually a cross-over between snow and agriculture applications. It can be used year round in light material, high capacity applications such as handling mulch, dirt or rock.

The new designs enhance the safety and durability of the machine providing an optimal operator experience. The honeycomb design at the top gives the operator a great view of the amount of snow in the bucket for maximum capacity, and allows for more material retention without taking away line of sight to the edge and corners of the bucket. An integrated built-in step with metal grating makes it much easier to safely enter and exit the machine, as the improved grating improves grip in wet weather.

Also, the reversible and replaceable bolt-on cutting edge ensures complete contact with the ground for maximum snow removal, while the torque tube increases rigidity for wet, heavy loads of snow, according to the manufacturer.

Cat Straight Snow Push

Removing snow from any surface is safely and efficiently completed with various widths of the Cat snow pushes. The cutting edges, available in steel or rubber, are designed for moving snow in a wide range of applications. The pushes reach down to the surface and remove as much snow as possible, while the additional bolt on back drag feature allows for a straight push to pull material away from a structure.

A spring loaded trip edge with tension adjustment allows the Cat snow pushes to protect themselves and the machine from obstacles that are encountered when pushing snow and ice; for example, when plowing a road and coming upon an elevated man hole cover, the unit will raise up instead of impacting the cover directly. The adjustable skid maintains a constant cutting edge height preferred by the operator.

The Cat straight snow pushes are ideal for snow removal contractors clearing large parking lots, roads, and other paved surfaces.
