The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will hold its 8th Annual Golf Outing and Awards Dinner on Friday, May 18.
The all-day event, which begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun, features a golf tournament, gala banquet and dinner at the Heritage Hills Golf Course, York, PA.
The highlight of the event, according to Karen Hersh, of First Capital Insulation, York, and NAWIC chapter president, is the announcement of the winners of the $1,000 college scholarship and the CAD Design/Drafting Competition.
She said upwards of 23 local students have applied for the scholarship, which is given to a student presently taking or soon to enroll in courses related to the construction industry. The CAD Design/Drafting Competition is open to all students attending local vocational technical schools.
The golf tournament, which features a box lunch and dinner, is open to all interested participants.
The funds raised by the golf tournament pay for the scholarship, Hersh added.
Meeting
At the April meeting, the members of the Central PA chapter of NAWIC met at the offices of the Mennonite Central Committee, Akron, Lancaster County. The women had a tour of the newly constructed Mennonite Central Committee Campus, which was the feature of a cover story in the July 5, 2000, edition of Construction Equipment Guide.
