A new Clark County fire training center broke ground on May 18, 2026, in the southwest Las Vegas valley, 8newsnow.com reported.
The new $93 million facility will feature a pre-manufactured burn tower, a two-story training center and a maintenance building. It will be located on the 4400 block of Tropicana Avenue near Arville Street.
The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. will demolish the existing structures on the 6.26-acre site, according to fox5vegas.com.
Plans also call for a new 8,400-sq.-ft. Fire Station 88 as well as a multi-story parking garage, 8newsnow.com reported.
"We sit here in Spring Valley with a thriving and growing population, having that investment in this neighborhood, the fire station for rapid response, the training center," Clark County Commission Chair Michael Naft told 8newsnow.com. "This is going to be a thriving area in the years ahead because of the investment that we are making in this site."
The training facility is set for a 2028 completion and will provide room for training exercises and future expansion, maximizing the 6.26 acres, according to 8newsnow.com.
The facility will be built on the site of the now-shuttered Clark County Fire Training Center, which opened in 1983. That center served hundreds of fire classes, including rookie school to engineer academies, along with ongoing training for proficiency and best practices, news 3lv.comreported.
Cities in Clark County include Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Mesquite and Boulder City. ♣
