A 50th anniversary celebration became an opportunity to make a difference for vulnerable children when Johnson Crane Hire, together with Tadano and its South African distributor MMS Mobile Cranes, raised nearly R90,000 ($5,508) for Hope Haven Home of Safety during a special charity golf day.

The event brought together customers, sponsors, business partners and representatives from across South Africa's lifting industry to celebrate Johnson Crane Hire's five decades of operations while supporting a meaningful community initiative.
Hope Haven Home of Safety, a NPC (Non Profit Company) based in Centurion, provides 24-hour shelter, care and medical support for abandoned, abused and neglected babies. Funds raised during the golf day will support the Home of Safety move to a larger facility in Highveld, planned for September 2026. The additional space will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for the children while allowing Hope Haven Home to increase its care capacity. A portion of the donation will also contribute to the Hope Haven Home Minibus Fund, which aims to provide safe and reliable transportation for the babies and their carers.

"Reaching our 50-year milestone was an opportunity not only to celebrate our journey, but also to give back to the community," said Lalith Senarathne, managing director of Johnson Crane Hire. "We are proud that the golf day enabled us to support Hope Haven Home of Safety and contribute towards a larger, safer home and better care for the babies. We are grateful to everyone who supported this initiative and helped make this contribution possible."
The golf day was organized jointly by MMS Mobile Cranes and Johnson Crane Hire and also provided an opportunity for customers and industry partners to connect in an informal setting. Former Springbok Captain and World Cup Winner, Victor Matfield, joined the event and took part in the prizegiving ceremony.
Tadano and MMS Mobile Cranes also showcased a selection of lifting equipment during the event, including the new Tadano AC 5.250L-2 all terrain crane, as well as PM 19023, PM 36522S and PM 24023PX knuckle boom cranes.

Philippe Bisch, Business Leader Africa of Tadano, praised the collaboration behind the event.

The event combined three important elements: celebrating Johnson Crane Hire's 50-year journey, strengthening relationships across the lifting industry and supporting a valuable local community initiative.
Through the anniversary golf day, Johnson Crane Hire, MMS Mobile Cranes and Tadano demonstrated how industry partnerships can extend beyond business relationships to create a positive impact in the communities they serve.
