Coble Trench Safety Inc. (CTS), a Greensboro-based company specializing in the rental and sales of trench safety equipment, as well as OSHA-compliant training classes, and the rental and sales of traffic safety equipment announced today that it has been named among the Triad’s Fast 50 Companies, recognizing the Triad’s fastest growing private firms. Coble Trench Safety was ranked as the 11th fastest growing company in the Triad for 2011 as measured by percentage of revenue growth.

“Any time you receive external acknowledgment for the job you’re doing it helps to reinforce the value you bring to the marketplace,” explained Tom Coble, president of CTS. “There are some truly great companies in the Triad and for us to be recognized amongst the top 50 is an honor.”

The Triad Fast 50 is an annual event sponsored by the Business Journal. Coble Trench Safety has been honored amongst the Fast 50 companies each year since 2008. Coble Trench Safety was the 43rd ranked company in 2008, moving to 37th in 2009 and the 16th ranked company in 2010.

“The recognition is a testament to the team of employees working at all 11 CTS branch locations,” Coble continued. “We have a remarkable culture of cohesion and support amongst the 11 branch locations that helps us to provide a superior customer experience to our clients. Our customers know that if they have a water main break after hours or during the week and the repair work requires shoring that we’re just a phone call away from getting the equipment out to that job that day. That level of service really flows from our employees and their commitment to helping build this company as well as satisfying the customer.”

CTS added its 11th branch location in Knoxville, Tenn., earlier this year and has plans to continue to expand its footprint. The company has plans to add two to three branch locations in 2012, however, for strategic reasons, Coble decline to comment upon the specific markets.

About Tom Coble

Equipment rental industry veteran Tom Coble was the previous owner of Coble Cranes and Equipment/Coble Rents in Greensboro, N.C., with branch locations in Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Raleigh, N.C. The company was sold to a publicly traded company in July 1999. Tom Coble began his career in equipment rental while working for the Rev. Jerry Falwell serving as his executive pilot. Coble spent the idle time waiting for his next flight by looking up crane companies in airport phone books and brokering used equipment sales.

By the late 1970s, Tom Coble had found the field promising enough to devote his full attention to launching his own business. Coble Cranes & Equipment expanded its scope in the early 80s, becoming a full-line distributor for Case and renting on a limited basis. Coble initially opened his operation as a typical equipment dealer, however, faced with the recession of the early 1990s, he began looking at diversifying the company. Research was conducted and after reviewing the information, Tom Coble decided to convert his company’s focus to equipment rentals. Thus the future of a rental industry veteran was forged.
