Yancey’s Preston Smith (R) introduces Michael R. Richardson (L) and Willie Smith Jr. of Dekalb County, Ga., Public Works Department — Roads & Drainage Division, Decatur, Ga., to a new product — the Flexx-Right bucket, a backhoe-loader a Talking about the equipment on display, including this Cat D3K XL in the background, (L-R) are Wayne Evans, Yancey product support; Joe Fowler, heavy equipment specialist of The Southern Company, Atlanta; and Jimmy Packer, Georgia Power-Plant Bowen fuels In the Cat 303C CR mini-excavator Pop-A-Top rodeo event, Lamar Cain (in cab) of Cain Contracting, Marietta, Ga., looked like he had the event won with a posted 14-second time. Hard to believe, but another contestant posted a winning time of 13.5 seconds. Catching up on what’s happening in the Atlanta construction market (L-R) are Derek Geldhauser and Clay Mayfield of Archer Western, Atlanta, and John McLean of Yancey Bros. Co. (L-R): Trey Googe, Yancey Bros. Co.; Frank Crumbley, vice president of plant, C.W. Mathews, Marietta, Ga.; Brad Abstance, Yancey Bros. Co.; and Blake and Bill Hix, W.B.H. Contracting, Cartersville, Ga., discuss the next day’s lineup of college footb At many open houses, guests eat and run. At this Yancey event, a picture-perfect Friday afternoon made for an ideal opportunity for guests to stay and take a good look at the machine displays. For the first time, Yancey displayed the Mauldin lineup of products, including this Mauldin M413XT maintainer, at one of its open house events. Yancey Bros. Co. recently took on the Mauldin line for all of Georgia.

Yancey Bros. Co. held an open house Nov. 13 at its Kennesaw, Ga., branch location.

A cool, but otherwise comfortable sunny day created a pleasant backdrop for customers, friends and family as they strolled around the grounds and facility checking out all that Yancey Bros. has to offer and more.

Caterpillar, Wacker-Neuson and Cimaf manufacturing representatives were on hand to tout their lines. Mauldin products made their first appearance at a Yancey open house. The Georgia dealer recently took on the Mauldin line and took the opportunity at its open house to introduce two Mauldin products in particular to its guests — the Mauldin 1750-C paver and the Mauldin M413XT maintainer. Also on display and drawing a lot of attention was the brand new Flexx-Right bucket by Hammersmith Manufacturing, which just went into production, recently.

For those looking for a “real” equipment operating experience Heath Hanna, product specialist of Yancey Bros., set up the Caterpillar M series motorgrader simulator. Yancey also provided its guests a chance to display their operating prowess. Two equipment rodeo events, the mini-excavator “pop-a-top,” and a skid steer bowling course, offered quite a challenge for those who participated. Top finishers were:

Skid Steer Bowling

1st — Kelly Bagley

2nd — Derek Geldhauser of Archer Western

3rd — Kevin Kilmurry of Kilmurry Tree Service

Pop-A-Top Excavator

1st — Anthony Ridgeway of the city of College Park

2nd — Lamar Cain of Cain Contracting

3rd — Michael Touchet of MT Contractors

And for those who worked up an appetite, Yancey Bros provided guests with a complementary lunch catered by Williamson Bros. Barbeque, which is always a crowd favorite in North Georgia.
