Forty-mile-per-hour wind gusts didn’t prevent golfers from turning in some exceptional scores at GOMACO Invitational #34.

Forty-mile-per-hour wind gusts didn’t prevent golfers from turning in some exceptional scores at GOMACO Invitational #34 held Sept. 15 and 16, in Ida Grove, Iowa. The GOMACO Invitational is the company’s annual golf event held at the Ida Grove Golf and Country Club and three surrounding courses. Nearly 300 contractors, distributors, suppliers, association members and media personnel from across the United States, Canada and Australia attended this year’s Invitational. GOMACO also continued its yearlong “The First 50 Years” celebration. The event’s featured colors were white and yellow, for the company’s golden anniversary.

The Putting Tournament started off the GOMACO Invitational golf events Sept. 15, at the Ida Grove Country Club. Putters participated in the tournament on four different greens on the course, with the top team from each green advancing to the Putting Championship.

Immediately following the Putting Tournament, the Contractors’ Shoot-Out started. The names of 18 contractors were drawn and divided into three-person teams. The six teams competed in a five-hole competition, with the highest scoring team eliminated on each hole.

On Sept. 16, a total of 280 golfers participated in the 34th Scramble Tournament and 18 holes of golf on the courses in Ida Grove, Holstein, Mapleton and Odebolt. Thirty-five of the 36 tee boxes were filled with two four-man teams. Champion teams were crowned from each course and advanced to the three-hole “Grand” Champion Shoot-Out in Ida Grove.
