GridLiance West, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Transmission LLC, joined federal, state and local leaders on Sept. 8, 2026, to celebrate the start of construction on the GridLiance West Core Upgrades Project.

The GridLiance West Core Upgrades Project represents a long-term investment in Nevada's energy future. Designed to replace existing infrastructure and expand transmission capacity, the transmission upgrades will help ensure homes, businesses and industries have access to reliable and affordable electricity for decades to come.
When completed in mid-2028, the expanded transmission network will unlock access to additional energy resources, create opportunities for new industrial investment and generate tax revenue for local communities that will help support schools, emergency services and public infrastructure.
The GridLiance West Core Upgrades project represents:
• 500 jobs created during construction;
• an estimated $90 million in property and sales tax revenue; and
• an estimated $553 million in annual economic impact.
“This is a significant investment in Nevada's energy future and demonstrates the critical role transmission infrastructure plays in powering homes, businesses and industries said Matt Valle, president of NextEra Energy Transmission. “Economic growth depends on reliable, affordable electricity and the infrastructure needed to deliver it. Today's groundbreaking reflects what can be achieved through strong collaboration among industry, government and local communities.”
“This project is another important step toward securing Nevada's energy future and strengthening our position as the energy hub of the West,” Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo said. “Reliable, affordable energy is essential to supporting Nevada's growing economy, creating good-paying jobs and attracting new investment. By modernizing and expanding our transmission infrastructure, we are building the capacity needed to power Nevada's continued growth and ensure our state is ready to meet the energy demands of the future.”
